PSI:Capture uses device profiles to save scanner settings specific to a particular device and document type. Device profiles are saved as files in the application data directory for each computer running PSI:Capture.
The device profile storage location varies depending on the host operating system in use.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and later operating systems
Windows XP, Windows Server 2003
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PSIGEN\Capture\Devices
In addition the information above, it is important to know that the Device Profile Name itself consists of several variables:
The Device Name
The Document Type Name
The Device Profile Name
This can cause the device profile names to become rather long, sometimes exceeding the limit imposed by Windows. To alleviate this problem we first write the file to your TEMP system path. That path must be short enough to allow the entire folder structure plus the file name to be written in order for the file to be properly created.
To verify where your TEMP folder is located, right click on your My Computer icon and go to Properties.
Click on the Advanced Tab or Advanced System Settings option
Click on the Environment Variables button
Locate the TEMP variable, and confirm the VALUE is set to a location short enough to accomodate the entire path + file name you are trying to create.
